On February 8, representatives of the Ukrainian government, well-known musicians and journalists recorded a video sending their birthday greetings to Ukrinform correspondent Roman Sushchenko, who was illegally arrested in Russia.
Among them are First Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Gerashchenko, Ukraine's Minister for Information Policy Yuriy Stets, Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly, deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiygoz, film director Mykhailo Illienko, singer Maria Burmaka, musician Valeriy Kharchyshyn and the Druga Rika band, people's artist of Ukraine Anatoliy Matviychuk, Head of the National Union of Journalists Serhiy Tomilenko, journalist Myroslava Gongadze, sports journalist Valentyn Shcherbachov, photojournalist Oleksandr Klimenko. Latvian dissident Lidija Doronina-Lasmane also congratulated Sushchenko on his birthday.
