The head of the Verkhovna Rada delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), the assembly's vice-president, Volodymyr Ariev, has initiated the preparation of a PACE report on the hybrid war and also plans in April to talk about disinformation in the media (fake news) in a report on editorial independence, according to the website of the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko party - Interfax.
"On my initiative, with the support of many PACE delegates, a report is being prepared on the hybrid war and the current conditions of its conduct. In addition, I will be a rapporteur on editorial independence and we will also touch on fake news in this report, which I will present in April," Ariev said.
He said that Europeans note a threat of untruthful news.
Ariev noted that a debate was held at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the PACE in Copenhagen that Russia influences democratic processes in Europe through fake news and spread of disinformation.
"Europe is fully aware of what is happening," the politician said.
