NewsRSSParliament refuses to cancel extension of moratorium on farmland sales

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has refused to cancel the adoption of bill No. 7350, which extended the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land for one more year, until January 1, 2019.
A total of 66 MPs voted for the adoption of draft resolution 7350-P on the cancellation of the decision by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of December 7, 2017, which adopted at first reading and as a whole the draft law of Ukraine on amendments to Section X "Transitional Provisions" of the Land Code of Ukraine regarding the extension of the ban on alienation of agricultural land, an Ukrinform correspondent reports. Such a decision by parliament enables Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy to sign the adopted bill and submit it for signature to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. As Ukrinform reported, on December 7, 236 lawmakers voted for the adoption of draft law No. 7350. MPs amended paragraphs 14 and 15 of Section X "Transitional Provisions" of the Land Code of Ukraine, according to which it is proposed to extend the moratorium on the purchase and sale of agricultural land and on including the right to a land share to the authorized capital of economic entities "before the entry into force of the law on the circulation of agricultural land, but not later than January 1, 2019."
