The Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine (HACU) has opened proceedings on a lawsuit lodged by leader of the Movement of New Forces party and former Odesa regional governor Mikheil Saakashvili against Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to recognize as unlawful and repeal a decree stripping Saakashvili of Ukrainian citizenship - Interfax.
"Finally, after three months of struggle... we managed to obtain documents on depriving me of citizenship and to file a suit on appealing against an illegal presidential decree. It is very symbolic that the Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine scheduled a hearing on this case for November 22 – the Day of Dignity and Freedom," Saakashvili wrote on his Facebook page on Friday.
He said that the court session would be held at 8 Moskovska Street in Kyiv at 10.00 on November 22.
The politician also attached a photocopy of the relevant HACU ruing of November 2, which, in particular, says: "To open the proceedings in the administrative case on the suit of Mikheil Nikolozovich Saakashvili against President of Ukraine Petro Oleksiyovych Poroshenko on recognizing as unlawful and repealing a decree of the president of Ukraine No. 196/2017 of July 26, 2017."
