An adviser to the Ukrainian interior minister, People's Front MP Anton Gerashchenko, has said that the murder of Amina Okuyeva, a doctor and lieutenant of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, is linked to an assassination attempt on her and her husband, Adam Osmayev, in June this year and thinks that those who ordered the killing are in Russia - Interfax.
"Obviously, the trouble came from the territory of the Russian Federation. One killer from Russia arrived in June this year and tried to shoot Adam and Amina, but... he was detained. He is in jail, he faces trial and life imprisonment.... Those who sent the killer in June did the same now," Gerashchenko said live on the 112 Ukraine television channel on Tuesday.
According to him, there are two main scenarios behind the murder.
"These are the actions of the Russian special services, the killing aimed at destabilizing the socio-political situation and creating an atmosphere of terror and horror in Ukraine. The second scenario concerns the actions of individuals who are on the territory of the Chechen Republic. This is revenge on Adam for going against [Ichkeria President] Ramzan Kadyrov and his entourage. Any other versions will also be considered," he said.
Gerashchenko said that according to investigators, there were two killers.
"Apparently, there were two terrorists. One was waiting at a turn from the Odesa highway and gave a signal to the second one who was sitting in the bushes with weapons... I am sure that we will find them too. We will detain them and they will also spend their entire lives in prison," he said.
As earlier reported, Okuyeva, a volunteer soldier who fought Russian-backed forces in eastern Ukraine, was killed and her husband, Adam Osmayev, was wounded. Their car came under fire at a railway crossing near the village of Hlevakha in Kyiv region late on October 30.
