22 of Septeber 2017 г.
A court in Simferopol, Russia-occupied Crimea, on Friday, September 22, found Crimean journalist Mykola Semena guilty on a charge of separatism and handed him a suspended sentence of two and a half years.
According to Krym.Realii (Crimea Realities), Semena was also banned from working for three years.
The day before Semena made a closing speech in the court, stating that if he was brought in the verdict of guilty, this would affect the entire journalism in Russia.
In spring of 2016, the Crimean department of the Federal Security Service (FSB) launched a criminal case against Semena on the charge of "public calls for actions aimed at violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation, with the use of mass media, or electronic or information telecommunications networks (including the internet)."
