NewsRSSSocial Policy Minister Reva: Pensions to be increased under any conditions
8 of Septeber 2017 г.
The increase in pensions is a priority task of the Cabinet of Ministers, but without a comprehensive reform of the pension system there is no chance to ensure pension further growth, Social Policy Minister Andriy Reva has said.
"Raising pensions, increasing their size is a priority task for the Government, which will be solved under any conditions. Twelve million retired persons, most of whom live below the poverty line, have been waiting for this for a long time," Reva said at Government Question Hour meeting held in Parliament today, an Ukrinform correspondent reports. However, he said that a single increase in pensions will not solve problems of the pension system. "The problem of the pension system is much deeper than the simple increase in pensions. The solidarity pension system is not viable in the current form, and without comprehensive modernization there is no chance for ensuring the further growth in pensions," the minister stressed. According to him, the Verkhovna Rada committee on social policy, employment and pensions considered 2,151 amendments and developed a bill for Verkhovna Rada’s consideration in second reading. As earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada at first reading on July 13, 2017 approved the draft law "On pension reform"
