U.S. House passes new sanctions against Russia
26 of July 2017 г.
The lower chamber of the U.S. Congress overwhelmingly approved the bill with a new package of sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea.
The bill was supported by 419 members of the House of Representatives. Only three Republicans voted against the bill, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The bill now goes to the Senate, where members of both parties have spoken in favor of revisions made to a version of the legislation they passed last month.
As Bloomberg reports, the White House has sent mixed messages about whether Trump would sign the measure, expressing concern over limiting the president’s power to ease sanctions on his own. Trump supports sanctions against the three countries but wants to make sure the U.S. gets “good deals,” White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday.
