President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the law "On Amendments to the Law "On Education" on the Specifics of Access of Persons with Special Educational Needs to Educational Services", which will ensure the continuation of the development of inclusive education in Ukraine - Interfax.
The law was signed on Wednesday during the visit of the president to secondary school No. 168 in Kyiv. The relevant law regulates the access of persons with special educational needs to educational services in educational institutions. It sets forth the right to education of persons with special educational needs and gives them the opportunity to receive education in all educational institutions, including free of charge in state and municipal educational institutions, regardless of the "determination of disability." The changes provide for remote and individual forms of education, the creation of inclusive and special groups (forms) for such individuals in general education schools. As reported, the Verkhovna Rada voted by 297 votes on May 23 for presidential bill No. 6437 "On Amendments to the Law "On Education" on the Features of Access of Persons with Special Educational Needs to Educational Services." Poroshenko submitted this bill to the Verkhovna Rada in early May this year. The president regards this bill as extremely topical, noting that 10% of children in Ukraine need their special features to be taken into account in the educational process.
