The land reform will not be among the principal reforms Ukraine has to implement to receive another tranche from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Oleksiy Mushak of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc parliamentary faction said on Facebook - Interfax.
"The IMF won't insist on the land reform anymore. The president worked 'miracles of diplomacy' during his voyage to Washington and had this issue removed from the agenda," Mushak said. Mushak said a team of people sharing common views on the matter, to which he belongs, will continue moving towards establishing a free land market. He said he intended to present one basic bill and five supporting documents on the land reform in the fall. A source close to the negotiations in the United States told Interfax-Ukraine "President Petro Poroshenko asked that the launch of the land market be removed from the agenda, and [IMF Managing Director] Christine Lagarde agreed." The provision on launching the land market will be removed from the IMF-Ukraine memorandum, he said. As reported, the Ukrainian-IMF Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies under the Extended Fund Facility agreement envisioned the adoption of legislation on the circulation of agricultural land.
