The issue of appointing acting minister Ulana Suprun as Health Minister will be taken up after approval by parliament of laws for reforming Ukraine's health care system, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's representative in Ukraine's parliament and member of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc (PPB) faction Iryna Lutsenko has said - Interfax.
"I think after we are able to pass health reform – and we have set ourselves the ambitious task of voting on the measures in their second reading this summer – we will be able to calmly consider the candidature of Suprun for health minister," Lutsenko said during an interview with the Inter TV channel on Friday evening. "Ulana Suprun, who has many positive traits, must show deputies a result. And we must see this result in the Rada," Lutsenko said. Lutsenko, who is deputy head of the PPB faction in parliament, said deputies on Tuesday will have the opportunity to recommend amendments to the draft law on health care reform. As earlier reported, Poroshenko's press service said it would forward the health care reform bill to parliament. The bill contains new rules for medical care in rural areas. The presidential administration said it hopes the measure is passed before lawmakers go on summer recess. Earlier, on May 18, parliament decided not to table draft laws relating to health care reform for adoption because some deputies formed a working group to improve them.
