Only 7% of those convicted for corruption are sent to prison
15 of February 2017 г.
Only 32 people out of 492 convicted for corruption have been sent to prison.
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuri Lutsenko said this at a meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"I'm shocked by the statistics of what is happening in the courts. Only 7%, i.e. 32 people out of 492 convicts, have been sent to prison for the criminal corruption. Finally, we see what part of the law enforcement chain is failing," Lutsenko said.
The Prosecutor General called for drafting a legislative initiative regarding the punishment for corrupt activities.
