 NewsRSSNABU checks MP Onyschenko accusation on bribing parliamentarians

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) is checking charges made by Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksandr Onyschenko (member of the Volya Narodu (People's Will) Rada group) involving buying votes from parliamentarians, but has not entered the investigation into the national register of pretrial investigations - Interfax.
"Certain requirements must be met for including the case in the register, as per Articles 84-90 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine. Everything must be proven," NABU's press service said. The British Independent newspaper published an article by Onyschenko, who said he was able to become a MP after paying another MP a $6 million bribe. Onyschenko also said he was asked by a high-ranking official to organize and finance a campaign to smear former Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the leader of the People's Front Party. The People's Front parliament faction has demanded NABU and Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) name individuals behind the attempt to discredit Yatsenyuk. Parliament Speaker Andriy Parubiy has said NABU and the PGO should be tasked with the probe after receiving a deputy request to do so.
