Ukraine's Health Ministry has published the revised national list of essential medicines, the ministry's press service reported on Wednesday - Interfax.
"The national list includes high-quality, effective, safe and cost-effective medicines required for delivering healthcare to population in medical institutions irrespective of their form of ownership," the press service said. The list is based on the 19th World Health Organization (WHO) model list of essential medicines. The expert panel to select essential medicines determined the list of priority diseases and medical conditions for Ukraine on the basis of WHO recommendations. The list of essential medicines consists of the major and auxiliary lists that include medicines that are registered and not registered in Ukraine. The ministry said that the major list includes the most effective and safest medicines for priority pathological conditions, and the auxiliary list includes medicines for priority pathological conditions requiring specialized diagnostic or monitoring equipment, specialized medical care and training of specialists.
