Ukraine's Ministry of Health allows an increase in budget funding for the program of reimbursement for the cost of drugs for treatment of cardiovascular diseases, asthma and diabetes, Acting Health Minister Ulana Suprun has said at a briefing in Kyiv - Interfax.
"We are ready to work on changes to the budget [to get more money for reimbursement]," she said. Suprun, following a meeting with the participation of pharmaceutical manufacturers and Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, said that drugmakers are ready to participate in the reimbursement program. "Most pharmaceutical manufacturers support the program. They are ready to cooperate not to halt the program," she said. She said the reimbursement program provides reimbursement for the price of the cheapest generic with the possibility of additional payments for more expensive drugs, but not higher than the so called median price. The cost of more expensive drugs will not be reimbursed. Suprun stressed the program includes medicines under international non-proprietary names (INN) without indicating dosage. "In the decision we intentionally indicated INN and did not indicate dosage to avoid possibility of manipulation," she said.
