Gerashchenko stands for monitoring artists illegally visiting Crimea

Gerashchenko stands for monitoring artists illegally visiting Crimea
7 of November 2016 г.
First Deputy Speaker, Ukraine's representative in the subgroup for humanitarian affairs of the Trilateral Contact Group Iryna Gerashchenko stands for the establishment of a government structure that would deal with tracking persons, in particular, those who work in cultural sphere and visited occupied Crimea with violations to prevent them from speaking in the territories under Ukrainian government control - Interfax.

"We are asking on the part of the Verkhovna Rada to protect the Ukrainian border. There must be a structure in the government, which will clearly monitor offenders of Ukrainian border. And if some singer or a circus artist performed in Crimea, she has no right to perform in "Ukraine" Palace, Gerashchenko said during an hour of questions to the government in parliament on Friday, referring to Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and representatives of the Interior Ministry.

According to the first deputy speaker, a request for admission of "chansonniers and musicians" to the Ukrainian territory was sent to the State Border Service, who after illegal visit to Crimea came to Kyiv and planned to perform at the "Ukraine" Palace in Kyiv. The request also concerned persons who participated as observers in the so-called "primaries" in the occupied territories.

"We've got the answers from State Border Service. It says: you did not specify the birth dates of these musicians and their names in Latin transcription. We won’t be checking them in the database," first deputy speaker said, expressing outrage at such a frontier’s response.

In addition, she turned to the question whether the criminal proceedings were opened against the so called reporter Graham Phillips, who "mocked at the Ukrainian prisoner in the gray zone" during the liberation." According to Gerashchenko, there was no objective response by a representative of the Interior Ministry.

Groysman promised to deal with this situation.
