Ukraine finished 6th wave of demobilization, army must be staffed with contract soldiers
2 of November 2016 г.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has accepted a report from Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko about the completion of the process of discharge of servicemen of the sixth wave of demobilization, the president's press service reported - Interfax.

The chief of the general staff said the process of demobilization of servicemen of the sixth wave of mobilization has been completed, with the exception of those military who are undergoing medical treatment or who are under internal investigation. The president of Ukraine said that the last sixth wave of demobilization was completed by the beginning of November.

"As president and commander-in-chief, I can report to the Ukrainian people that henceforth there will not be a single mobilized serviceman on the frontline in the ATO zone. And the Armed Forces of Ukraine must be fully staffed with well-trained, motivated and well-provided-for volunteers and contract soldiers," Poroshenko said.

In the past two years, the mobilization played a part of the utmost importance in maintaining Ukraine's national defense capability in order to "repel the aggressor that attacked our country in the most difficult days of Ukrainian history", he said.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces that we have today are qualitatively new," Poroshenko said.

He went on to emphasize that only contract soldiers, volunteers remain at the front, who have undergone quality training and drilling, including with assistance from Ukraine's foreign partners, Poroshenko said.
