Russian President Vladimir Putin has cancelled his visit to Paris, initially set for October 19, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday - Interfax.
"President [Vladimir Putin] decided to cancel this visit. The thing is that certain events linked with the opening of the Russian cultural and spiritual center and one of the exhibitions were planned," Peskov said. "Regrettably, these events were excluded from the program. That is why the president [Putin] decided to cancel his visit to the French Republic," he said. "From the very beginning in his contacts with his French counterpart, President Putin has said that he would be ready to visit Paris when it was convenient for [French] President [Francois] Hollande," he said. "Consequently, we will wait for this convenient time to come, and the president [Putin] will once again consider the possibility of paying such a visit if such an issue is on the agenda," Peskov said. When asked why these events, supposed to have taken place in Paris, were no longer on the program, Peskov said that "this question needs to be referred to the French side."
