President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said the experiment on allocating the funds received from the operation of the customs service for the construction of local roads is running successfully.
"You must remember I decided to introduce a legislative initiative on the implementation of the customs experiment. And this customs experiment works, not only on the territory of Odesa region, but also in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and in other areas," Poroshenko said during his working trip to Odesa region on Friday - Interfax. According to the president, this experiment is bringing specific results today. Poroshenko said that all this has become possible due to the efforts of the Ukrainian government, which transferred funds to the Regional Development Fund, and due to specific results of decentralization. "This year regional budget in comparison with 2014 and 2015 has doubled and it has become possible for the first time to finance not only salaries, but also to allocate funds for regional budgets," the head of the state said. Assessing the progress of the experiment, the president said, "I can say that I am very glad, this experiment has justified itself."
