Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people banned in Crimea

The so-called Supreme Court of the Russian-annexed Crimea recognized the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people as the extremist organization and banned its activities in Russia. The decision may be appealed within a month.
This was reported by RIA Novosti news agency.
The lawsuit to ban the Mejlis was filed by so-called Crimean prosecutor Natalia Poklonskaya. According to the “prosecutor's office”, the Mejlis leaders allegedly cooperate with the mercenaries of such terrorist organizations as the Turkish Grey Wolves and Hizb ut-Tahrir.
As reported, February 18, the Justice Ministry of the Russian Federation put the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people on the list of civil and religious associations, whose activities were terminated due to their extremist activity.
February 15, so-called Crimean prosecutor Natalia Poklonskaya appealed to the "Supreme Court" of the region with the request to recognize the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people as the extremist organization and to ban its activities.
