Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov has said he believes that sending of the peacemaking or police missions to Donbas may help to bring ceasefire and to stop provocations in Donbas.
"We're ready for any format: either the OSCE mission to have stationary duty posts on the contact line and its envoys to have weapon; or let it be a police mission of the European Union. But it would be one of the factors, which may really ensure ceasefire, stopping of the provocations by the occupational troops," he told in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
According to Turchynov, a 24-hour duty by the third party on the neutral territory along the contact line will make it clear, who really shoot, since intensive shell attacks begin when the night hours come and OSCE envoys come back to their places of stationing.
So, present-time operating formula of monitoring proved it to be ineffective.
"Just after permanent posts to be set up in all hot points, where representatives of the third countries, for example EU members, will be deployed, these provocations could be prevented. By that time we will always hear fables about some response actions, that they allegedly respond to Ukraine's shell attacks and so on. Meanwhile, we'll lose the most valuable – human lives," the secretary said.
