"I want to return to politics. Today, I'm doing everything I can. Firstly, I help many people who are being persecuted in Ukraine, and those who have already left Ukraine. And not only to Russia. Here, in Russia, I communicate and help them," Yanukovych said in an interview with Russian information agency RIA Novosti, UNIAN reports.
He also said that he had links with the current Ukrainian politicians.
"Many of them are not so shy and aren't afraid as they were a year ago. They are comfortable when we meet and discuss the issues," Yanukovych said.
As reported earlier, Yanukovych was suspected of organizing most violent attacks on the Maidan protesters.
According to the PGO's prosecutor Vladyslav Kutsenko, former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych personally gave an order to use weapons against activists of the Euromaidan.
