FSB director Alexander Bortnikov reported to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin,Censor.NET informs citing TASS.
"We can clearly state that this is a terrorist attack," Bortnikov said. According to him, traces of the explosives have been found on the wreckage and belongings.
"According to our experts, an improvised subkilogram bomb exploded on board an aircraft, which resulted in its falling apart in the air. This explains the dispersion of the aircraft fuselage parts at great distance," the Federal Security Service head said
It should be reminded that Metrojet Flight 9268 operated by Russian airline Kogalymavia (branded as Metrojet) crashed in northern Sinai Oct. 31, 2015 following its departure from Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport, Egypt, en route to Pulkovo Airport, Saint Petersburg, Russia. The Airbus A321-231 aircraft, was carrying 217 passengers and seven crew members. Of those aboard, mostly tourists, there were 219 Russians, four Ukrainians, and one Belarusian. The death toll of the plane crash was 224 people.
