28 of July 2015 г.
The funds in the amount of $26 million, nine million Euros, and 85 million Swiss francs, which belonged to former Ukraine’s high-ranking officials, have been blocked overseas.
This was announced by Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin today at a briefing in Kyiv, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.
"Numerous houses and securities have been attached in Ukraine as of today," he said.
"The funds that have been frozen abroad are $26 million, nine million Euros, and 85 million Swiss francs," Shokin added
According to him, the funds of the enterprises affiliated with the former high-ranking officials in the amount of $30 million and 4.5 million Swiss francs have been frozen as well.
Besides, he added that 32.7 thousand hectares of land have been returned to state ownership and more than 11 billion hryvnia have been reimbursed in Ukraine.
"The Ukrainian investigative bodies prepared and filed over a hundred of requests to the relevant foreign agencies to provide international legal assistance in criminal proceedings against these high-ranking officials and close associates [of Yanukovych] in order to establish the facts of the illegal moving out of the assets owned by these former officials. Austria, Great Britain, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Cyprus, Singapore, Latvia and others are meant in particular. I expect that the international cooperation will be fruitful," Liga reports citing Shokin.
According to him, the funds recovery procedure will take long. The European Convention envisages that a judicial procedure should be launched in those states where there are such assets while the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine should be also involved. Only after that the full or partial confiscation of property is possible. FM-TV УСІ НОВИНИ УКРАЇНСЬКОЮ ТУТ ВСЕ НОВОСТИ ПО-РУССКИ ЗДЕСЬ другие новости
