Ukrainian army death toll in Donbas estimated at about 2,300 men

The total death toll of the Ukrainian army since the launch of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine in the middle of April 2014 has been estimated at about 2,300 Ukrainian soldiers, according to head of the civilian-military cooperation department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksiy Nozdrachov.
"As of today, the death toll is about 2,300 Ukrainian soldiers, but it is difficult to say how many people are missing in action (MIA), because, as seen from experience, 40% of them are often captives. But we have not yet established their location. And about 60% are killed in action (KIA). Therefore, we estimate that 70-80 men out of 270 MIA's are held in captivity, and unfortunately, the remaining ones are KIA's," he said at a briefing on Tuesday, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
