NewsRSSUkraine and USA sign open skies agreement
15 of July 2015 г.
The open skies agreement was signed between Ukraine and the USA within the framework of the Ukraine-US business forum in Washington. The signed open skies agreement is the first agreement of this kind for Ukraine. It means cheaper air transportation for Ukrainian passengers, and contributes to economic growth in the partner countries, Ukrinform reports. This was discussed by Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Andriy Pyvovarsky and Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment Catherine Novelli during the signing ceremony at the U.S. Department of State on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported. "I clearly understand that the agreement signing will not change the situation in Ukrainian airspace overnight, but we are working on future prospects in order to provide cheaper air travel for Ukrainian passengers," Ukraine's Infrastructure Minister said. The Minister noted that the Ukrainian Government was currently working "on liberalization of Ukrainian airspace." The document, among other things, provides for non-interference of the state authorities in commercial decisions of air carriers with respect to routes, traffic volumes and pricing. In addition, the agreement enables the air carriers to provide "more affordable, convenient and efficient air service for consumers."
