NewsRSSPoroshenko commented on militants plans to hold illegal elections in Donbas
2 of July 2015 г.
The attempt of terrorists to hold illegal elections in Donbas on October 18 will mean Russia's tough attack on Minsk II. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated this at joint briefing with President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski, an Ukrinform correspondent reports. "I have never commented and I am not going to comment on any statements made by terrorists. However, I believe that these statements are not yet belong to terrorists. If these statements are approved by the Russian Federation, we, unfortunately, will have a very dangerous and unpleasant precedent. The attempt to hold the elections, which are illegal, contrary to the Minsk agreements, contrary to the Ukrainian legislation, contrary to the OSCE criteria, on October 18 will mean a tough attack of Russia on Minsk II," said Poroshenko. "I am confident that it will be extremely irresponsible and will have devastating consequences for the process of de-escalation in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Therefore, I hope that this will not happen," the Head of State said. As reported, the leader of the so-called “Donetsk People's Republic” Oleksandr Zakharchenko stated that he was set to hold local elections on October 18.
