As reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrainska Pravda, 244 MPs voted in favor of the Cabinet-drafted bill No. 2531.
The draft reads that "military performing their duty are prohibited from using personal devices of mobile communication in areas of the anti-terrorist operation, during state of emergency, or within a special period on the territories of combat activities."
Permission to use a cell phone shall be granted by a unit commander.
The government believes this law to enhance control over information leakage, especially in the anti-terrorist operation area.
MPs Oksana Korchynska and Oleh Liashko demanded an amendment to the draft that would exclude medical personnel from this prohibition. However, the Parliament did not support it.
As explained by MP Iryna Friz, this provision is stipulated by the draft No. 2154. The deputy asked to wait until it is passed.
