Implementation of constitutional amendments regarding decentralization will last two years

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Hroisman predicts that the transition period for implementation of amendments to the Constitution regarding decentralization will last at least two years.
He said this at a meeting of the National Council for Reforms, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"According to my calculations ... it will last at least two years. This time is necessary to change the legislation, establish executive committees, make changes to various sectoral laws," he said.
According to him, it is necessary to hold early local elections for people to have opportunity to elect a new government under its new powers.
Hroisman also noted that it was also necessary to form local communities during this period.
