Sanctions against Russia not really powerful, - White House spokesman

Sanctions against Russia not really powerful, - White House spokesman
17 of June 2015 г.

Sanctions against Russia have not forced Putin to change the political course, though, have affected the Russian economy, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said.

"Sanctions have had an impact on the Russian economy, but the result has been not a strategic change, which we expect Vladimir Putin to make," he said, adding that, in his opinion, Putin's policy is to "intervene in the situation in Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

Earnest stated that the Russian economy forecasts, the ruble exchange rate and capital outflow figures showed that sanctions worked against Russia.

In early June, Pentagon chief Ashton Carter also admitted that Western sanctions had no effect on Putin's policy.
