The situation in eastern Ukraine remains tense. Despite the declared ceasefire, Russian-backed terrorists continue to fire at Ukrainian army positions and settlements in Donbas.

The map reflecting the situation in Donbas as of 12.00 on May 26 has been released by the information and analytical center of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council.

During the last day one Ukrainian serviceman has been killed, another 12 injured in the area of the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas as a result of hostilities and military clashes.

Spokesman for the Presidential Administration on the anti-terrorist operation, Colonel Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Over the past day, as a result of active hostilities and provocations one our soldier was killed, another 12 were injured," he said.

According to him, ATO forces sustained the greatest losses in suburbs of the village of Pervomayske.

Starting from 11:00 on Tuesday, terrorists shell positions of Ukrainian military in the village of Shyrokyne six times.

"After the first shelling at night, up to 11:00, positions of the Ukrainian security forces have been shelled six times. Three times militants shelled the ATO positions using mortars, and three times with different types of small arms," the statement reads.

Mariupol residents report that they hear gunfire in the city center. Press officer for the Mariupol sector Dmytro Horbunov said that the situation is under control. Residents of the city are asked not to worry.

According to Horbunov, no casualties were reported among the personnel of the National Guard and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
