"After the occupation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, it obliges all men younger than 55 to register with military authorities. Without registration men are deprived of the opportunity to find employment in state or non-state funded institutions, enterprises and organizations, as well as to register a company, or become subject to a fine in the amount of 500-1,500 rubles. Thus, they are forced to leave Crimea since they need to feed their families, or receive the Russian military ID. Persons who served in the armed forces of Ukraine who have the Ukrainian military ID are not given it back after registration and issued Russian military ID instead. People are concerned that in the first case, you shall either starve or leave Crimea, and in the second case you could be accused of treason...," the coordinator of the Committee on the Protection of the Rights of the Crimean Tatar people.
