Ambassador of Ukraine to Italy Yevhen Perelyhin told in an interview with Evropeiska pravda web news agency, Ukrinform reports.
"Rotenberg had six of his properties arrested in Sardinia, Lazio, and Rome. Although now Rotenberg lawyers have filed an appeal against the financial guards and ministry of finance of Italy, the pre-trial investigation continues," he said.
The ambassador noted that Ukraine is appended as the third party in this trial this is why Perelyhin knows about details.
As for the son of the former prime minister of Ukraine, the diplomat said that in autumn 2014 Italy arrested the plot of land and real estate owned by Azarov's son. The assets were purchased in 2012-2013 by the Italian company Agosto 2012 which is associated with the Austrian companies managed by Azarov.
"Italy has demonstrated in fact its willingness to implement sanctions within the framework of EU's agreements," Perelyhin said.
He also said that Italy's position today is following: "they say that they will not be the last to ratify the Association Agreement with Ukraine."
