European Commission: Europe to modernize Ukrainian GTS

Vice-President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic underlines the importance of modernization of the Ukrainian gas transportation system to ensure reliable transit of Russian gas to the EU in the future.
He said this at an international conference on energy security in Brussels on Tuesday, Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"Both the EU and Ukraine are interested the Ukrainian gas transportation system to become modern and upgraded. And I believe if we work with Ukraine on modernization issue, it will be the best way to convince everyone that this route is reliable. Consequently, it should be upgraded and used in the future," the Vice-President of the European Commission noted.
He reminded that last year the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development signed the credit agreement on allocation of 300 million Euros for restoration of the Ukrainian GTS.
