This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"I have been informed that the fire was localized, that is isolated, as of 12:45 p.m.," Yatseniuk said opening a government meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.
The prime minister stressed that the radiation quantity exposure is within the norms. "The recommended radiation intensity level is 50 micro-roentgens per hour while it is less than 21 micro-roentgens directly in the zone (zone of exclusion where the fire broke out - Ed.) and less than 11 in Kyiv," he informed.
According to Yatseniuk, three planes and one helicopter of the State Emergency Service were involved to isolate the fire on Tuesday. The prime minister concluded that it is necessary to upgrade the aircraft fleet and purchase additional aircrafts and firefighting equipment.
At the same time, State Emergency Service Acting Head Zorian Shkiriak said reporting on the firefighting progress that the fire was localized at 10.30 a.m. Wednesday and the situation was completely under the firefighters' control. He noted that there were 15 fire sources totally. Taking into account this aspect, one may state either about an act of arson or careless handling of fire.
