The EU will agree on sanctions against Russia in July.
This has been stated by German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the press conference with Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz in Warsaw on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports from Poland.
"During the [meeting of the European] Council in March, all the heads of government made the unanimous political decision that the sanctions would be associated with the implementation of the Minsk agreements. It is clear that the implementation of this package [Minsk II] will last longer than until August or September. This means that we will consider this issue and will make the political decision on sanctions in July," Merkel said.
She noted that Berlin and Warsaw had similar views on the situation in Ukraine.
According to the German Chancellor, Germany is working closely with Poland on the issue of Ukraine, despite the fact that decisions are made in the Normandy format (Germany, France, Ukraine, Russia).
