The fate of "Open Skies" will be decided by the representatives of low-cost companies at Lviv airport. Fuel suppliers list, aircraft base and other aspects that affect the presence of low-cost carriers will be agreed during their conference talks to be held in early May.

Chairman of Lviv Regional State Administration Oleh Synyutka told reporters during a meeting held at the press club of Ukrinform.

He said the independence of Lviv airport managers will be demonstrated, for example, in such issues as basing aircraft at the airport ground. A significant difference in prices for low-cost companies makes it profitable to "park" their airplanes in Rzeszow, Poland and dispatch the planes to Lviv on the need basis. This results in the loss of potential earnings and increases the costs of flights.

As previously reported, Ministry of Infrastructure introduced the principle of "open skies" at Lviv airport. This decree ensures an access to the Ukrainian market for European low-cost companies and promises to halve the airfares for passengers.
