NewsRSSECHR postpones Ukraine's lawsuit against Russia

he European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has postponed consideration of the application Ukraine versus Russia for half a year at the request of Moscow. The ECHR press office has reported this to the Yevropeiska Pravda. As noted, the ECHR has agreed to extend to September 25, 2015 the time allowed for submission of the Russian Government's observations on the admissibility of applications lodged by Ukraine over the actions of the Russian Federation in Donbas and Crimea. According to the rules of Court, Russia had to submit their observations until March 25. However, two days before the period expired, the Russian Federation asked about postponing of observations' submission for six months. The request referred to observations on two applications. The first application, lodged by Kyiv on March 13, concerns the events leading up to and following the assumption of control by the Russian Federation over the Crimean peninsula from March 2014 and subsequent developments in Eastern Ukraine up to the beginning of September 2014. The second application, Ukraine v. Russia II, lodged on 13 June 2014, concerns the alleged abduction of three groups of children in Eastern Ukraine and their temporary transfer to Russia on three occasions between June and August 2014. другие новости
