Lithuania stopps asylum to Ukrainians who come because of the war

Lithuania has decided temporarily to stop granting asylum to citizens of Ukraine, waiting for the decisions taken by the Ukrainian authorities, who intend to create all conditions for refugees from Donbas and Crimea.
Delfi has informed this referring to Lietuvos zinios newspaper, Ukrinform reports.
"If it is determined that these people have a real opportunity to move and settle in other regions of Ukraine in order to be safe, it will inevitably influence the decision on granting asylum to citizens of Ukraine, running from military actions," head of the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy Viktor Ostrivny stated.
According to Lietuvos zinios, the number of Ukrainian citizens seeking asylum in Lithuania significantly increased in past year due to armed hostilities in Donbas. 70 citizens of Ukraine have addressed with such request, while in previous years this number was near five people.
