Ukraine signed agreement on gas from Russia

Ukraine has signed the new agreement on natural gas purchase from Russia in the second quarter of 2015.
According to the press service of the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry of Ukraine, the gas price will amount to USD 248 per one thousand cubic meters, while other conditions remain the same under the so-called "winter package", Ukrinform.
"It is a victory of an economic approach to relations between Naftogaz and Gazprom over a political one," energy minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn was quoted as saying on the Ministry's website.
"We have received an economically reasonable market price, which is lower than the price for reverse supplies from the European countries. This temporary agreement covers only the second quarter. However, it will not only allow us to start accumulating gas for the autumn-winter period, but will also create a format of new relations in the future. After all, there will be talks in Berlin in April on a long-term agreement for the period till the end of the heating season in 2015-2016, and we plan to agree on the same formula for price determination," he said.
