This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on his Facebook page.
"This morning, SBU unit detained a killer of SBU officer Viktor Mandzik during an attempt to illegally cross the state border. As I told the family of the deceased, for me and for the SBU this is a matter of honor. The operation continues. Everyone involved in the murder of our officer will be found and punished!" the president wrote.
Later, adviser to the head of the SBU Markyian Lubkivskyi revealed the details of the arrest on his Facebook page. Denys Hordieiev was detained by a special SBU counterintelligence group together with Zakarpattia SBU as a result of a complex and risky special operation.
"A TT handgun and ammo were confiscated from the detainee - our guys were indeed at risk," Lubkivskyi noted.
The detainee was hiding from the law enforcement, covertly moving through the territory of Ukraine and planned to get fake IDs to travel abroad.
Valentyn Nalyvaichenko informed Mandzik's relatives about the arrest of the killer and once again assured them that the SBU will not leave the hero's family alone with their pain.
