NewsRSSU.S. will continue to provide military support to Ukraine - Blinken
11 of November 2021 г.
The United States will continue to provide security assistance to Ukraine, including lethal defensive weapons, to defend against Russian aggression, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said.
According to an Ukrinform correspondent, he said this at a press briefing on Wednesday, November 10, after the signing of the U.S.-Ukraine Charter on Strategic Partnership. "We continue to provide security assistance that Ukraine needs, including lethal defensive weapons, to defend against any Russian aggression. That is a vital aspect of our support and assistance to make sure that Ukraine has the means to defend itself against any aggression," Blinken said. He added that the United States is working closely with European partners and allies "to make sure that everyone is focused on the concerns that we have about the possibility of renewed Russian aggression based on the reports we're seeing of these irregular movements of Russian forces near Ukraine's border, and to make sure that we are coordinated and acting in unison." According to Blinken, this issue was raised at the G20 summit in Rome in late October, when U.S. President Joe Biden brought together German Chancellor Angela Merkel, incoming German Chancellor Martin Schulz, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson "to focus everyone on the concerns that we have together." The United States demonstrates its support for Ukraine in a variety of different ways through various forms of assistance, he added. Blinken recalled that the United States has provided more than $409 billion to Ukraine since 2014 and at this current fiscal year, Congress has allocated almost $400 million at the request of the White House. другие новости
