Kyiv tightens quarantine from November 1

Kyiv tightens quarantine from November 1
28 of October 2021 г.
Kyiv imposes tightened quarantine restrictions from Monday, November 1.

“The situation with the spread of coronavirus in the capital is rapidly deteriorating. Over the past week, Kyiv reported more than 1,000 new cases per day and more than 30 or more than 40, 50 deaths [per day]. Many young people died, even a one-year-old child. The number of hospitalizations and patients in need of oxygen support is increasing. To date, more than 6,000 beds in the city hospitals are prepared for coronavirus patients. More than 90% of them in municipal facilities are supplied with oxygen. There are also almost 500 lung ventilators in the capital. Bed occupancy rate today reaches almost 63%, and in some hospitals – 99-100%. In addition, 84% of those hospitalized need oxygen support. The oxygen-supplied beds are occupied by over 66% for the third day in a row, and this is, unfortunately, a criterion of the red zone,” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at a briefing on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In this regard, Klitschko called on the Cabinet of Ministers to declare a red level of epidemiological danger in Kyiv. At the same time, the Mayor informed that within the limits of his powers, Kyiv would impose strict quarantine restrictions from Monday, November 1.

In particular, people will have to present a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a negative PCR-test to visit cafes and restaurants, hotels, social welfare departments, gyms, fitness centers, centers for administrative services, pension fund departments, shopping and entertainment centers, as well as to attend mass events, travel by public transport.

Such severe restrictions are introduced because there are no other options to save people's health and lives, Klitschko stressed and called on citizens to get vaccinated.
