The Romanian government will donate 100,000 doses of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine to Ukraine and Moldova, according to Romanian Prime Minister Florin Citu - Ukrinform.

He said this at a press conference on May 5, Ukrinform reports with reference to Romania’s ACTMedia News Agency.

“At today's government meeting, we approved a draft decision to donate another 100,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to the Republic of Moldova, as well as prepared the details to provide 100,000 doses of the vaccine to Ukraine,” the Romanian prime minister said.

Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that Romania plans to sell another 200,000 doses of the vaccine to Moldova.

As Ukrinform reported, on April 24, Ukraine received 367,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine produced in South Korea under the COVAX Facility. On April 16, Ukraine received 117,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine as part of the COVAX Facility.

The COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Ukraine began on February 24, 2021. CoviShield vaccine, developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, Sinovac Biotech’s CoronaVac, Pfizer vaccine, SKBio vaccine created by Oxford University and AstraZeneca are registered and used in Ukraine.
