The number of ceasefire violations in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine recorded over the past two weeks has reached its highest level this year and was three times higher than over the same period before.
Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), Ambassador Heidi Grau, said this in a statement after the regular meetings of the TCG and its Working Groups held through video conferencing on April 14. She noted that the meetings took place against the background of an increased number of ceasefire violations. “According to the SMM, the number of violations recorded over the past two weeks has reached its highest level this year and was three times higher than over the same period before. This is also having a negative impact on our work,” Grau said. According to the ambassador, the last two weeks have also seen a significant increase in restrictions and impediments to the freedom of movement of the OSCE SMM and the fulfillment of its mandate.
