9 of July 2020 г.
The Trilateral Contact Group for the Peaceful Settlement of the Situation in Donbas (TCG) has begun a meeting via video conferencing, the press service of the head of state reports.
Before the start of the TCG meeting, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak reported that a large-scale forest fire had broken out in Luhansk region near the line of demarcation of forces and equipment, as a result of which the villages were damaged and people died. The burning sites are still observed in forests near the villages of Smolianynove, Kapitanove and Voronove. President Volodymyr Zelensky left urgently to visit the scene of the emergency. He was informed that the elimination of the fire was complicated by its proximity to the demarcation line. Given the danger of fire spreading to populated areas as a result of wind and hot weather, Yermak called on the participants of the Trilateral Contact Group to ensure a full and comprehensive ceasefire. “I believe that at the next TCG meeting it is necessary, once again, to substantively consider the issue of establishing a ceasefire, because our common task is to prevent new casualties among the civilian population,” the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine said. The previous meeting of the TCG took place on June 25. On July 6, a forest fire broke out on the territory of the Borovske and Okhtyrske forestries on an area of about 50 hectares near the village of Oskolonivka, Novoaidar district, Luhansk region. The fire was contained early on July 7, but due to gusty winds and high air temperatures, the fire spread to the village of Smolianynove, Novoaidar district. On Wednesday, July 8, President Volodymyr Zelensky, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov arrived in Luhansk region to inspect the fire area. So far, as a result of the emergency, five people have died, 59 houses have burned down, 24 of them in full and 35 partially. The police opened criminal proceedings under Article 270 (violation of fire safety requirements established by law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. другие новости
