NewsRSSU.S. Congress proposes increasing security assistance to Ukraine in 2021

The House Appropriations Committee of the U.S. Congress has approved a draft defense funding bill envisaging $275 million in security assistance to Ukraine in the fiscal year 2021, according to a statement published on the committee's website.
In particular, the section of security cooperation programs states: "$275 million for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, $25 million above the request." In addition, the bill requires the Secretary of Defense to inform Congress of any undue spending delays. Earlier, the U.S. Congress approved the adoption of the entire package of security and defense assistance to Ukraine in 2020 in the amount of $250 million under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). In total, the Pentagon's draft budget approved by the House Appropriations Committee provides for the allocation of $694.6 billion, or $3.7 billion below the U.S. president's budget request. другие новости
