Ukraine confirms 6,592 coronavirus cases

Ukraine has confirmed 467 new coronavirus Covid-19 cases over the past day, bringing the total number to 6,592, according to the Public Health Centre of the Health Ministry of Ukraine.

"6,592 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed. A total, 67,520 samples in Ukraine have been tested using PCR method. On April 21, 467 new cases were confirmed," Public Health Centre wrote on Facebook.

At the same time, 424 people in Ukraine have already recovered, including 27 children - a repeated laboratory test has found no virus.

In particular, coronavirus cases in Ukraine were confirmed in:

Vinnytsia region – 349 cases (18 people recovered);

Volyn region - 176 cases (13 recovered);

Dnipropetrovsk region - 150 cases (9 recovered);

Donetsk region - 16 cases (7 recovered);

Zhytomyr region - 287 cases (1 recovered);

Zakarpattia region - 218 cases (16 recovered);

Zaporizhzhia region - 141 cases (20 recovered);

Ivano-Frankivsk region - 589 cases (27 recovered);

Kyiv city - 989 cases (39 recovered);

Kyiv region - 390 cases (32 recovered);

Lviv region - 247 cases (29 recovered);

Luhansk region - 26 cases (3 recovered);

Mykolaiv region - 82 cases;

Odesa region - 148 cases (3 recovered);

Poltava region - 116 cases (12 recovered);

Rivne region - 353 cases (22 recovered);

Sumy region - 86 cases (23 recovered);

Ternopil region - 471 cases (34 recovered);

Kharkiv region - 82 cases (6 recovered);

Kherson region - 72 cases (9 recovered);

Khmelnytskyi region - 54 cases (5 recovered);

Cherkasy region - 206 cases (34 recovered);

Chernivtsi region – 1,053 cases (34 recovered);

Chernihiv region - 13 cases (3 recovered).

In addition, 4,466 people are undergoing treatment at home under doctors’ supervision, including 334 children. Some 2,126 people have been hospitalized, including 97 children. Some 92 people have been put on artificial lung ventilation.

In Ukraine, 174 people have died from complications related to COVID-19, including 90 men and 84 women. Among those deceased were mostly people over the age of 50 (85%).

According to Worldometer's latest statistics, 2,557,837 coronavirus cases have been reported worldwide, including 695,262 cases of recovery and 177,664 deaths.
