The decision to ease quarantine restrictions in Ukraine will be made by April 24, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov has said.
He said this at a briefing on Tuesday, April 14, according to an Ukrinform correspondent. "If we can improve the epidemiological situation, when we see that we can reduce quarantine measures very slowly, we will start doing it right away. But the quarantine is now in place until April 24, and we will analyze and make a decision closer to that date. Of course, it will happen after Easter," Stepanov said. He noted that the Ministry of Health of Ukraine was analyzing the situation every day, analyzing the epidemiological situation in Ukraine, and looks at how everything is developing. The situation in the world as to how other countries begin to weaken quarantine measures is also being analyzed, Stepanov said. Ukraine's government on April 6 introduced additional measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. In particular, it is not allowed to stay in public places without a respirator or protective mask, including a handmade mask. It also prohibited to move in groups of more than two persons, except to go to work if absolutely necessary and accompany persons under 14 years of age. The ban also applies to visits to parks, squares, recreation areas, sports grounds and playgrounds, forest, park and coastal areas, except for one person walking a pet and in case of emergency. According to the Public Health Center, 3,372 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases were registered in Ukraine as of 09:00 on April 14. Ninety-eight people died of the disease, and 119 recovered.
