EU: Crimea annexation is an act we will never recognize
28 of February 2020 г.
European Union Delegation to the OSCE has assured that the EU remains fully committed to non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia.
EU diplomats said this in a statement at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna on Thursday, February 27, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We mark at the OSCE Permanent Council today 6 yrs since Russia illegally annexed Crimea. This act which we do NOT and will NOT recognize is a violation of international law and OSCE commitments. Remain committed to non-recognition policy including through restrictive measures," reads the statement on Twitter.
The European Union Delegation noted that the human rights situation in Crimea deteriorates since Russia's illegal annexation: systematic repression of those opposing the annexation and restriction on fundamental freedoms and persecution of Crimean Tatars.
“EU calls for full compliance with international human rights standards," the diplomats said.
